About Huntington's Disease
Huntington's disease (HD) is an inherited brain disorder passed from parent to child via a defective gene. Onset usually occurs at age 35-45 years, after which people experience a steady decline over the next 20 years or so.
HD affects physical, emotional and cognitive functions. Typically people experience chorea - sudden involuntary movements - emotional disturbance and personality changes. Speech, memory, concentration and the ability to perform complex tasks can all be affected.
'Speaking From Experience' offers first hand accounts from people living with Huntington's Disease about how the illness has affected their lives and how they are facing the future.

"It may look bad. You will put it into perspective very soon and you will enjoy your life while you can. It is true, when you do put it in its place it is not so important. It is important, but it has a place."
